Grub/Mission District

Pros: A cool spot on Valencia Street
Cons: Closed weekdays for lunch
Best For: Solid American bistro fare

Grub

Grub is sleek and hip and a great addition to a street becoming famous for its eateries...Valencia in the Mission. The mac and cheese bar trend is alive and well here, as well as the frittata and buttermilk pancake bars during weekend brunch hours.

Sourcing local ingredients, organic when possible, Grub joins ranks with the ever-growing legion of chefs who support food producers around the Bay area.

The menu is varied and dishes are beautifully plated, from seared tombo tuna to the chef's seasonal risotto. With an interesting selection of brews and wines, Grub hits the spot. Sometimes you just have a hankering for a Hebrew Messiah Dark Brown Ale and double thick pork chops.
