A16 was named for the route going from Naples to Canosa, Puglia in Italy. Imagine a small family-run restaurant in a charming Italian region known as Campania, specializing in freshly made pastas, home-cured meats and classic Neopolitan pizzas. Chef Christopher Thompson brings the region to you at this convivial Marina hot spot.

Test for the real deal by ordering a quintessential Margherita pizza and comparing it with other killer wood-fired pizzas in San Francisco. Chances are, if you've traveled Southern Italy and eaten pizza there (impossible to miss this!) you will be talking up the delightful charred but doughy light-as-air crust at A16 to other Neopolitan pizza officianados.

Owner/Wine Director Shelley Lindgren has put together a brilliant selection of wines, 60% Italian, and mostly from Southern Italy. Looking for a special occasion meal for an Italian food and wine lover? This is it. But leave room for dessert. In the Fall it might be a pear crostata with brown butter gelato or a selection of house-made sorbetto. Perhaps a delightful plate of biscotti and cookies? It's all good.
