SFJAZZ/Civic Center

Pros: The illustrious non-profit org dedicated to the art of jazz
Cons: Waiting for the new SFJAZZ Center to be built
Best For: Celebrating the music that was born in New Orleans

Ground has been broken and the new SFZAZZ Center is becoming a reality. Upon its completion the facility will be the nation's first freestanding jazz institution, a place where the history of the music genre is preserved and honored and where innovation will take place. The concert hall will have a flexible seating capacity of between 350 to 700 audience members. There will be rehearsal space and a digital learning lab, basically a brilliant new jazz central.

Meanwhile, when the SFJAZZ Spring season is happening, grab tickets to see and hear global artists do their thing. Give a listen to the SFJAZZ HIgh School All-Stars. They are awesome. Then along comes the SFJAZZ Summerfest, with a prodigious line-up as well. Basically, if you're a jazz-lover, you've come to the right city.

SFJAZZ educates, inspires and delights. Go to the website to hear snippets of scheduled artists' music. Cool, man.
