Koret Children's Corner and Carousel/Golden Gate Park

Pros: A slice of dreamy parkland just for kids
Cons: The enticing wet sand area turns well-dressed children into mud muffins
Best For: Quality time with a little person you love

Koret Children's PlaygroundLet the young ones burn off steam and treat them to a whirling ride on a tiger or an ostrich. This corner of Golden Gate Park has been designated for kids since 1887, making it the country's first public children's playground. There are plenty of ways to climb and swing. On warm days, bring a little pail and shovel and send your sprite into the wet sand area to build castles and moats. Might want to bring along a change of clothes!

The carousel is a 1914 four row Herschell-Spillman beauty, also recently renovated. Choose between 28 jumping horses, 10 standing horses and 24 fantastic menagerie animals. Riders of all ages are welcome.
