La Boulange Cafe and Bakery/Multiple Locations

Pros: Consistently good food, served quickly, relaxed ambiance
Cons: None
,Best For: Neighborhood pit stop for authentic French cafe fare

La Boulange is the cafe spin-off from the mothership bakery, La Boulangerie. Nine locations in SF make it so easy to eat breakfast or lunch like a true gourmande. Homemade granola with yogurt and fresh fruit, Croque Madame (ham, swiss and bechamel on toasted pain de mie topped with fried egg, with greens). Now, that's the way to start the day! Croissants (try the chocolate) and assorted pastries pair well with a steaming bowl of cafe au lait brewed with organic coffee. Come back at noon for a smoked salmon, cucumber, creme fraiche, shallots and capers open face sandwich...or a warm goat cheese salad. Be sure to take home a roasted cauliflower gratin tart and a bag of addictive almond croquet cookies, for dinner. You might never cook again.
