Tyler Florence/Wayfare Tavern/Downtown

Pros: Good buzz, good food
Cons:Don't expect perfection
Best For: When the chef is in the kitchen

Tyler Florence/Wayfare TavernIt is now possible to enjoy a Food Network episode of Tyler's Ultimate and then watch the chef in action at his newly opened Wayfare Tavern in downtown San Francisco. The Bay area is now his home and most nights he's in the kitchen. He might even come over to your table to say hello. If that's not enough incentive to get you in the door, the food is good, too; classic comfort with chalkboard specials at lunch and vegan entrees upon request. Many locally sourced organic products. California wine list.

Sample menu items:
Organic fried chicken, buttermilk brine, roasted garlic, crisp woody herbs and lemon
Alaskan halibut with stewed artichokes, tomatoes, artichoke puree, summer truffles and chervil
Sides of Mac & Cheese with jack cheese, garlic breadcrumbs, chive and smoked olive oil
Oysters, lobster, sea urchin
"Le Grand" burger
Frog Hollow organic peach pie with goats milk ice cream and rosemary sugar
