National Aids Memorial Grove/Golden Gate Park

Pros: Garden, meadow and redwood grove for remembrance
Cons: So many San Franciscans lost to AIDS
Best For: A spiritual gathering or solo contemplation

National Aids Memorial GroveThe site design for the Aids Memorial Grove began in 1991 and is a shining example of public and private sector collaboration. In 1996 the memorial was awarded national status, putting it on a par with Mount Rushmore, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor. You can picnic on the meadow, get married here, or just come to sit awhile.
