Land's End/The Coastal Trail/Outer Richmond

Pros: A mind-blowing, cliffside walk on the Western edge of the city
Cons: Be prepared for changeable weather conditions
Best For: Sunny days when the GG Bridge is visible

Lands End/Coastal Trail
The most beautiful, rugged, inspirational trail within city limits...not to be missed, and begging to be walked time and time again. Park the car in the Merrie Way lot at 48th Avenue and Point Lobos (above the Cliff House) in Outer Richmond. Or you can take the 38 or 38L MUNI bus and pick up the trail on the Northern side of the same parking lot. Then let the wild adventure begin. Don't want to spoil it with a description, as the walk is best experienced for the first time, with no prior knowledge of it's meanderings.

It's a little over a mile's walk, to the Eagles Point Overlook. Layer up, bring a sandwich, read the historical markers along the way and thank the thousands of volunteers who helped build and beautify the trail, under the auspices of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

Noteworthy: Take a sidetrip stroll down to the ruins of the Sutro Baths, below Merrie Way Parking Lot.
